Athletes associate with sports are ambassadors of country: Sushanta

Agartala: Sept 12. Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury today said that athletes associate with sport are ambassadors of the country and state.

Minister Chowdhury said this while inaugurating the TTA Asian Ranking Junior Tennis Tournament 2022 at the State Tennis Complex adjacent to Malancha Niwas in Agartala this morning.

He also had a conversation with the players of the various teams participating in the tennis tournament and the sponsors of the tournament who were present during the introduction phase.

“Many talented and promising tennis players are participating in this tournament.  Those players who not only shine themselves through their game, they also shine the face of the country and the state. So sports should be done along with education. Make yourself a good citizen. Our new generation of youth should be experts in all aspects. Patriotism will be awakened in the youth through sports. For this, our government is giving importance to sports”, he said.

The minister further said that athletes associated with sports are ambassadors of the country and state.

“Citizens’ involvement, love with them is of different level. Today, the country is moving forward in all sectors, including sports, under the able guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. As the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Department of the Government of Tripura, there is no greater joy than being able to work for the state’s sports arena. It is my wish that the players participating in this tournament gain fame all over the world”, he said.

He also thanked the organizers for organizing this kind of competition to highlight young and new generation talented players.

Today’s inauguration ceremony was attended by Santosh Saha, Chairman of Tripura Tea Development Corporation, Abu Syed Mohammad Haider, General Secretary of Bangladesh Tennis Federation, Vijay Kumar, DIG of CRPF, Tarun Malik, Asset Manager of ONGC’s Tripura Asset, Sujit Roy, General Secretary of Tripura Tennis Association, among others.
