Agartala, 9th August 2025: Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee commemorated Quit India Movement Day at the state Congress Bhavan here today paying solemn tribute to the martyrs of India’s freedom struggle. The event also marked the foundation day of the Youth Congress, celebrated alongside the historic remembrance.
Senior Congress leaders including Tripura Pradesh Congress President Asish Kumar Saha, MLAs Sudip Roy Barman and Gopal Chandra Roy, and Youth Congress President Neel Kamal Saha were present at the gathering.
Speaking to reporters here, Saha described August 9 as a “historic day” in India’s journey to independence. “Today, we remember the brave martyrs whose sacrifices forced the British to leave India. Their legacy is our strength,” he said. However, he expressed concern over the current state of democracy, alleging that citizens’ rights are being eroded in independent India.
Saha further criticized the prevailing political climate, stating, “In today’s India, development has become synonymous with corruption. For the past few years, the country has been run by a destructive force. It is time for the people to rise and resist this menace.”
