Agartala, 21st March 2026: A tragic road accident claimed the life of a young man after a collision with a police vehicle under Sidhai Police Station. The heartbreaking incident occurred yesterday at Boalia area in Mohanpur along the Agartala–Simna road.
The deceased has been identified as Balaram Debnath, who worked as a public security guard.
According to reports, a police commander jeep (TR-01-D-0990) was on its way to Sidhai Police Station from the Mohanpur Sub-Divisional Magistrate office. The vehicle was being driven by constable Buddha Sharma, accompanied by police and TSR personnel.
At the time of the incident, heavy rain and stormy weather conditions were prevailing. Meanwhile, Balaram, a resident of Shanitola area, was riding his motorcycle towards Sanskrit University for work.
During this period, a collision occurred between the motorcycle and the police vehicle, leading to a serious accident.
Balaram was immediately rushed to Mohanpur Sub-Divisional Health Centre. Due to his critical condition, he was later referred to GB Hospital in Agartala. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
Family sources informed the media today that a case will be filed at Sidhai Police Station regarding the incident.
Balaram was the sole breadwinner of his family. He is survived by his wife and two young sons, aged six years and just ten months, leaving the family in a helpless condition.Last night, Mohanpur Sub-Divisional Police Officer Ashish Dasgupta and Sidhai Police Station Officer-in-Charge Sanjay Laskar visited the bereaved family at their residence in Vivekananda Palli, Shanitola.
After post-mortem examination at GB Hospital today, the body of Balaram Debnath was handed over to his family
