Agartala, 7th July 2026: A one-day mushroom cultivation training camp was organized on Tuesday at the Krishnanagar Gram Panchayat premises under the initiative of the Fatikroy Agriculture Sector in Kumarghat subdivision. The program aimed to create alternative sources of income in agriculture and empower rural women economically.
The event was attended by Krishnanagar Gram Panchayat Pradhan Shikha Pal, Fatikroy Agriculture Department Sector Officer Mukta Pal, and resource person Sauradwipa Das, among others. Around 25 women members from local Self Help Groups of Krishnanagar and Fatikroy participated in the training.
During the session, participants received hands-on guidance on creating suitable environments for mushroom farming, seed preservation, production methods, crop care, pest and disease management, harvesting, marketing strategies, and techniques for achieving higher profits at lower costs.
Speakers highlighted the role of ATMA project Food Security Groups (FSG), which are small collectives of rural women. Their objectives include ensuring household food and nutrition security, increasing family income, enhancing women’s skills and empowerment, creating self-employment opportunities, and promoting modern agricultural technologies.
The training also emphasized how mushroom farming can generate sustainable income with minimal investment, strengthen rural economies, and meet household nutritional needs. Participants expressed gratitude to the Agriculture Department for such practical initiatives and urged for more training programs in the future.
