Agartala, November 27: A team of CPIM leaders visited the Chowkbazar area of Udaipur city on Wednesday, where 18 shops were gutted in a fire on Monday night. The team interacted with the affected businessmen and expressed their solidarity.

The team comprised of former MLA Ratan Bhowmik, former Udaipur Municipal Council Chairman Subrata Deb, CPIM Udaipur Divisional Secretary Dilip Datta and others. They inspected the burnt shops and assessed the extent of damage.

Subrata Deb told the media that the CPIM party was demanding a thorough investigation into the cause of the fire, which took five fire engines and three hours to douse. He also said that the party was urging the government to provide immediate relief and compensation to the businessmen who suffered losses in the incident.

He criticized the government for its apathy and indifference towards the plight of the traders, who had not received any assistance even after three days of the fire. He said that the CPIM party would stand by the traders and fight for their rights.
