Agartala, 23rd March 2024: Sanyukta Kisan Morcha State Committee commemorated the martyrdom day of freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, and Rajguru with a protest march in Agartala city on Saturday. The committee accused the central government of reneging on its promises to the farming community.
Pabitra Kar, the Convener of the Sanyukta Kisan Morcha State Committee, was present at the event. He stated that the main purpose of the march was to honor the memory of the martyrs, who hailed from farming families, and to highlight the government’s betrayal of the farmers.
Kar criticized the government for failing to fulfill its written promise to meet the farmers’ demands. He also pointed out that the BJP’s true intentions have been revealed through election bonds, while the Congress’s regular funding has been frozen.
Kar further accused the BJP of being desperate to retain power, despite realizing that they do not have the people’s support. He predicted that the BJP would not secure more than 200 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
