Locals nab saree fraudsters, hand them over to Police

Agartala, 1st June 2024:  Two fraudsters were booked by local residents in Lal Tilla Colony, North Ramchandra Ghat area while attempting to flee after duping an elderly woman. The suspects have been handed over to the Khowai police.

According to reports, for the past three months, the two individuals from Kolkata have been visiting Tripura and selling sarees to the public using a coupon system. However, they have consistently deceived buyers under the guise of saree sales.

On Saturday, the suspects tried to swindle an elderly woman out of Rs 14,000. Local residents noticed the incident, caught the fraudsters red-handed and immediately turned them over to the Khowai police. The incident has sparked widespread concern in the area.
