Agartala, 1st July 2024:  Tripura Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy announced that the state collected over Rs 3,000 crores in taxes across various sectors during the fiscal year 2022-23. Remarkably, this achievement comes despite the state government not imposing any additional tax burden on its citizens over the past six years.

The announcement was made during the 8th GST (Goods and Services Tax) Day celebrations at Pragna Bhavan, where top tax-paying businesses from the last financial year were honored.

Minister Singha Roy addressed the gathering, stating, “Our government has maintained a commitment to not impose any additional tax burden on the people over the last six years. Nevertheless, we have successfully collected over Rs 3,000 crores in taxes for the fiscal year 2022-23 across various sectors. This increasing revenue is a testament to the collaborative efforts between the government and the tax-paying citizens.”

He also emphasized the crucial role of improved connectivity in the region’s development.
