CM chairs review meeting on Rath Yatra, directs to take precautions

Agartala, 3rd July 2024:  Ahead of the upcoming Rath Yatra in Agartala on July 3rd, Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha has directed comprehensive measures to ensure the festival’s smooth conduct and safety.

Leading a virtual meeting at the Secretariat, Dr. Saha chaired discussions with Chief Secretary JK Sinha, Director General of Police Amitabh Ranjan, and Secretary Dr. PK Chakraborty, alongside District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police from all districts via video conference.

Highlighting the festival’s significance in preserving state traditions, Dr. Saha stressed the need for meticulous planning to avoid any disruptions.

He urged strict adherence to government guidelines regarding the construction and route of the chariot (Rath), emphasizing safety measures including ambulance services, paramedics, volunteers, and fire and emergency services.

Dr. Saha underscored the importance of coordination with the power department to facilitate the chariot’s movement and urged organizers to adhere to the schedule for a timely completion of the Rath Yatra. Additionally, he emphasized monitoring river water levels, particularly in Kailashahar under Unakoti District, to ensure safety precautions are in place.

In conclusion, the Chief Minister called upon all stakeholders to play a responsible role in ensuring the success and safety of the Rath Yatra festivities.
