Agartala, 28th September 2024: In a heartwarming gesture, the Kalyani Dey Foundation continued its annual tradition of distributing new clothes to elderly women in old age homes ahead of Durga Puja. On Saturday, the foundation’s founder Subal Kumar Dey, editor of Syandan newspaper and director Abhishek Dey led the initiative to bring smiles to the faces of these mothers.
“Every year, just before Durga Puja, we make it a point to visit old age homes and hand over new clothes to the mothers. This tradition started with Syandan newspaper, and now the Kalyani Dey Foundation has taken it forward. We are committed to ensuring that these elderly women, who may not have families to care for them, feel loved and remembered,” said Subal Kumar Dey.
The foundation’s members are actively involved in social activities throughout the year, but the Durga Puja initiative holds a special place in their hearts. “We believe in standing by the helpless old mothers, especially during festive times. Our efforts are not just limited to providing clothes; we also ensure they receive food and other necessities,” added Dey.
Abhishek Dey emphasized the foundation’s ongoing commitment: “This is not a one-time event. We track these mothers throughout the year to ensure their well-being. Our goal is to make them smile and feel cherished, not just during Durga Puja but always.”
