Agartala, 11th November 2024:    In a joint effort to ease the traffic congestion in Agartala, drive was launched today by the Agartala Municipal Corporation, West District Police, Transport Department, and Traffic Police.

The initiative aimed at making the city free of traffic jams focused on one of the busiest areas, a motor stand in the capital.

As part of the operation, AMC has set a 24-hour deadline for small traders who have been illegally occupying footpaths. The traders were informed that their shops would be removed on Tuesday if they fail to vacate the area in compliance with the rules.

Simultaneously, traffic personnel carried out raids against illegally parked vehicles. Drivers of these vehicles were fined as part of the operation to regulate parking. Traffic Superintendent Manik lal Das emphasized that specific parking zones have been designated for cars to avoid obstructing the flow of traffic.

Superintendent Das also confirmed that operations were ongoing in the Kaman Chowmuhani area and around the motor stand, with plans to extend the crackdown to other parts of the city. He assured that these measures would be continued to keep the capital free from traffic jams and ensure smoother travel for commuters.

This initiative is part of a broader strategy to improve traffic management in Agartala and tackle the persistent issue of congestion in key urban areas.
