Agartala, 20th March 2025: A shocking incident took place at the Vidyamohan Thakurpara area of Khowai where a nine-month pregnant woman was brutally assaulted at her home causing widespread unrest in the locality.
Reportedly, Biswajit Tanti and his brother Ganesh Tanti attacked the residence of Bhagya Mantra Tanti at around 11 pm last night following a prior dispute. The assailants severely beat Bhagya Mantra Tanti and his wife, Sumitra Karmakar, who is nine months pregnant. The attackers also vandalized the house during the assault.
The situation escalated quickly, and the news reached Khowai police station later that night. Police officials promptly arrived at the scene and arranged for Sumitra Karmakar to be admitted to Khowai District Hospital for medical treatment. Bhagya Mantra Tanti has appealed to the authorities for strict action against the two brothers involved in the attack.
The incident has left the locality in shock with residents demanding justice for the victims and heightened security measures to prevent such occurrences in the future. Sumitra Karmakar remains under medical care at the district hospital.
