Agartala, 23rd April 2025: In a concerted effort to enhance waste management in Unakoti district, DM Dilip Kumar Chakma accompanied by municipal officials conducted an inspection of the waste segregation center located in the abandoned Sonamukhi tea garden. The visit highlights the administration’s commitment to scientific waste processing and environmental sustainability.

The inspection team included Additional District Magistrate Argha Saha, Kailashahar Municipal Council Chairman Chapla Rani Debroy, Kumarghat Municipal Council Chairman Jadu Das, Kailashahar SDM Pradip Sarkar, Kumarghat SDM NS Chakma, Gournagar Block BDO Nabarun Chakraborty and other senior officials.

Following the inspection, DM Chakma elaborated on the steps being taken to streamline waste management. “Before this visit, we held a comprehensive meeting in the conference hall of my office to discuss the operational framework. Our aim is to ensure that all waste collected from the municipal areas of Kailashahar and Kumarghat undergoes proper scientific segregation,” he stated.

He assured that advanced machinery would be deployed to facilitate the process. “State-of-the-art segregation machines will be installed at the center soon. Today’s inspection primarily focused on determining the exact locations where these machines will be placed. Engineers from both municipal councils are already working on the technical specifications,” Chakma explained.

Officials noted that once operational, the facility will significantly improve waste management efficiency across the district. “This initiative is crucial for environmental health and cleanliness. We are aligning our strategy to expedite the execution,” said ADM Saha.

With the groundwork now set, authorities expect waste segregation operations to commence in the near future, paving the way for a more sustainable approach to municipal waste disposal in Unakoti district.
