Agartala, 3rd May 2025:  Refuting the accusations made by the Left Front, Pradesh BJP chief spokesperson Subrata Chakraborty dismissed allegations made by Left Front convener Manik Dey regarding misappropriation of wages meant for REGA workers.

Speaking to media personnel here, Chakraborty refuted the claim that BJP leaders and mandal office leadership were siphoning off wages, calling it “completely baseless.”

He countered by alleging that during the Left Front’s tenure, wages were manipulated at the bank level. “During their rule, leaders would sit outside banks with chairs, ensuring they received a cut from workers’ wages. Today, wages are transferred directly to workers’ bank accounts, eliminating such malpractice,” he asserted.

The BJP chief spokesperson also accused the Left Front of fostering a drug empire during its rule. “Under their governance, drug seizures were untraceable. Now, they have the liberty to question the administration on where confiscated drugs are sent,” Chakraborty stated, adding that the current government is actively working to dismantle the drug network in Tripura. “Those involved in narcotics, from Dharmanagar to Sakram, are being arrested and legal action is being taken against them,” he emphasized, citing the Court’s oversight on such cases.

Responding to criticism over ministers and MLAs handing over job appointment letters, Chakraborty defended the government’s employment policy. “The BJP government has no lapses in recruitment transparency. Till now, 16,942 individuals have secured jobs through a fair process. Once ongoing recruitments are completed, the Left Front will lose its chance to politicize unemployment,” he argued.

Citing a 2013 report from local vernacular daily, Chakraborty recalled allegations of an offer scam under the Left Front government, leading to public outrage. “They now claim there is no work and no food in the state, but those who fueled anarchy for 35 years refuse to acknowledge the positive changes taking place,” he remarked, accusing the Left Front of attempting to create confusion among the people.

Chakraborty concluded by reiterating the BJP’s commitment to transparency and public welfare. “Our government is working for the people with a clear and honest approach in all sectors,” he affirmed.
