8th Battalion of TSR holds health camp at remote villages

Agartala, 28th April 2025:  Under the Civic Action Program, the 8th Battalion of Tripura State Rifles (TSR) conducted a health camp on April 28 in Ganram Chowdhury Para, a remote area of East Malidhar Village in Chawmanu assembly constituency under Longtharai Valley subdivision. This initiative was part of the Battalion’s ongoing efforts to provide public welfare services in inaccessible areas. 

Residents of Ganram Chowdhury Para, as well as neighboring villages such as Birchandra, Biranjoy, Hajirai and others participated in the camp to receive medical services. A total of 72 individuals were tested for malaria, with all receiving necessary medication. In addition, essential items such as clothes, mosquito nets, notebooks, and pens were distributed among villagers and schoolchildren. 

The health camp was attended by Commandant Amarjit Debbarma of the 8th Battalion of TSR, Assistant Commandant Amrit Debbarma, Ashish Dasgupta, TSR personnel and local residents. Addressing attendees, Assistant Commandant Amrit Debbarma highlighted that the 8th Battalion TSR is dedicated not only to maintaining peace and order but also to undertaking annual social service programs for the welfare of the community. 

He emphasized that the health camps aim to raise health awareness and offer vital medical services to remote villages. Assistant Commandant Amrit Debbarma assured that similar initiatives would continue in the future to further benefit the rural population.
