Agartala, 28th April 2025:  : Dharmanagar witnessed a shocking theft at the Geeta Bajaj showroom, known for selling Pulsar bikes located opposite Sarla petrol pump in the Rajbari area under Dharmanagar subdivision. The incident took place late night of April 26 last, leaving the sub-divisional residents alarmed and raising serious concerns over the rising trend of thefts in the area.

According to CCTV footage, the robbery was carried out between 2:40 AM and 2:42 AM. The footage shows a group of thieves attempting to break into the two-story showroom by cutting through its tin roof at two separate locations. Despite failing initially, they managed to gain entry after cutting the false ceiling at a third spot.

Once inside, the perpetrators swiftly deactivated all the CCTV cameras, paving the way for their destructive actions. They broke into multiple lockers in the showroom, stealing small amounts of cash—Rs 1,700 from one locker and Rs 1,900 from another. Dissatisfied with the cash, the thieves proceeded to loot expensive bike parts and accessories, the total value of which is estimated to be between Rs 10 and Rs 12 lakh.

The incident came to light only this morning when the showroom employees opened the premises around 10 AM. They found extensive damage, including a broken false ceiling in two places, dismantled lockers and evidence of forced entry through the building’s roof. The scene left the employees shocked, prompting them to immediately inform the owner Rajib Roy.

Roy, upon arriving at the showroom assessed the extent of the damage and loss. He promptly filed a formal complaint with the Dharmanagar Home Department. “This is a major blow to our business. We urge the authorities to take this incident seriously and ensure justice is served,” Roy commented.

In response to the complaint, local police arrived at the site and began their investigation. “We are treating this case with utmost priority and will employ all necessary measures to identify and arrest the culprits,” said a senior police official from Dharmanagar.

Residents of Dharmanagar are growing increasingly concerned about the surge in thefts in recent months. The burglary at Geeta Bajaj showroom has amplified these worries, with locals demanding a swift and effective investigation into the case. “It’s high time the authorities improve security measures in our area. We are living in fear,” said a resident from Rajbari.
