Agartala, 28th April 2025:  Udaipur descended into chaos on Monday morning as members of the Hindu Jagran Manch and Sanatani staged a protest, blocking Netaji Subhash Bridge to demand the arrest of Javed Hossain. Hossain is accused of making derogatory remarks about Mata Tripura Sundari, revered at one of the 51 Peeths.

The protest comes amidst a wave of outrage across India over a brutal terrorist attack in Kashmir’s Pahelgaon, which claimed multiple lives. Allegedly, Javed Hossain made offensive comments regarding the temple on Saturday, prompting the Hindu Jagran Manch to file a complaint at Radhakishor Pur police station. However, even after 48 hours, no action had been taken, leading the organization to block the road from 10 am on Monday—a major national highway connecting Udaipur-Sarum and Udaipur-Agartala.

“We want immediate action against Javed Hossain. Such remarks are unacceptable and hurt the sentiments of devotees,” said one protestor.

The road blockade caused disruption, with hundreds of vehicles stranded on both sides amidst heavy rainfall. Local authorities, including Subdivision Administrator Tridip Sarkar, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Nirman Das, Radha Kishore Pur Police Station OC Babul Das, and TSR forces, arrived at the site to handle the situation.

“The administration is committed to taking action. Efforts to locate and arrest the accused will be intensified,” stated Sub-Division Magistrate Tridip Sarkar.

After negotiations, the police assured protesters that Javed Hossain would be apprehended within three months. This assurance led to the withdrawal of the road blockade, restoring traffic flow. However, the incident has raised questions about timely law enforcement and sparked debates on maintaining religious harmony.
