Agartala, 23rd May 2025: The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) has called upon the Director General of State Police to address the alleged deterioration of law and order in the state. On Friday, a DYFI delegation visited the police headquarters, submitting a deputation highlighting concerns over rising crime rates, drug abuse, and security lapses.
DYFI State Secretary Nabarun Deb, who led the delegation, expressed alarm over the situation. “The law and order situation has deteriorated drastically in the last few years,” he stated. “Drug addiction is spreading across schools and colleges, and thefts and robberies have taken a horrific form across the state. Every day, people suffer due to a lack of security.”
The delegation also pointed to the worsening traffic system, citing frequent road accidents and alleged negligence by traffic authorities. “Several people are dying daily in road accidents. Instead of focusing on safety measures, traffic police seem more engaged in collecting fines,” Deb remarked.
Additionally, concerns about human trafficking were raised. The DYFI urged authorities to strengthen border security, alleging an increase in infiltrators involved in trafficking activities. “Due to these issues, the state has turned into a jungle kingdom—where people feel unsafe and even basic democratic rights are under threat,” Deb asserted.
The delegation also accused authorities of targeting opposition voices. “The opposition is attacked daily. When they express views against the government, they are immediately arrested, while miscreants who threaten people with weapons roam free,” he claimed.
The DYFI has demanded swift police intervention to restore public confidence and ensure a safer environment for residents.
