Agartala, 15th February 2025: The Government Railway Police (GRP) has arrested a Bangladeshi woman and an Indian tout for infiltrating Tripura by evading border security. The authorities have filed a specific case against them.
Despite strict surveillance by the Border Security Force (BSF), incidents of Bangladeshi infiltration into Tripura continue unabated. Brokers facilitating illegal entry by crossing the barbed wire fence have become a daily occurrence. The latest incident saw the arrest of a Bangladeshi citizen and an Indian tout at Agartala railway station yesterday.
GRP police station OC Tapas Das revealed that based on secret information, the police were alerted to a Bangladeshi citizen’s plan to leave for another state from Agartala railway station. Acting on this intelligence, GRP, BSF, and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) conducted a joint raid at the station. During the operation, they apprehended the suspects, who later confessed to entering Tripura illegally during police interrogation.
The suspects have been identified as Taslima Akhtar (24) from Bangladesh and Arbajan Sheikh (36) from West Bengal. They will be presented before the court today, Das said.
