Pecharthal police destroy 12,000 cannabis plants worth Rs 8-10 lakhs in major raid

Agartala, 26th September 2024:   A team led by SDPO Kumarghat Utpalendu Debnath and OC Pecharthal police station along with staff and TSR personnel conducted a raid in the Kamdevcherra, Karaicherra, and Subal Para areas.

Acting on secret information, the team successfully destroyed and burnt approximately 12,000 cannabis plants spread across three plots of forest land.

“The total value of the destroyed cannabis plants is estimated to be around Rs 8 to 10 lakhs,” stated an official involved in the operation.

This raid is part of an ongoing effort to uphold the motto of “Nesha Mukht Tripura” (Drug-Free Tripura) as mandated by the Government of Tripura. “Such raids will be carried out on a regular basis to ensure the eradication of illegal cannabis cultivation,” added SDPO Utpalendu Debnath.
