Agartala, March 09, 2023: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sepahijala, CAU (I), Tripura organized field day on potato under ICAR-IARI-NEH component at Pathalia, Bishalgarh block in collaboration with ICAR- Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi on Thursday. The potato tubers were received under ICAR-IARI-NEH component.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr Anupam Mishra, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, CAU, Imphal. The objective of the programme was to increase area under scientific potato cultivation and to improve productivity as well as profitability of potato growers of Sepahijala district.
During the programme, Anita Das, Pradhan of Pathalia village; Dr Shatabhisa Sarkar, Senior Scientist & Head of KVK in Sepahijala district; Dr Utpal Dey, SMS (Plant Protection) and others were present.
Dr Sarkar discussed about the profitable potato cultivation in Sepahijala conditions and given road map for the future prospective of potato cultivation in the district.
Dr Dey encouraged the farmers for scientific potato cultivation and discussed different pest problems associated with potato cultivation. During the field day programme, potato was harvested and yield was calculated in terms of hectare.
Potato growers were very happy with the good yield of potato and getting good market price. Farmers were thankful to ICAR-IARI and KVK-Sepahijala for encouraging and providing input and technical support.
The programme was organized under the guidance of Prof (Dr) Ratan Kumar Saha, Dean, College of Fisheries, Lembucherra and supervision of Dr Shatabhisa Sarkar, Senior Scientist & Head of this KVK. A total of 21 farmers, farm women, rural youth from Pathalia village were actively participated in the programme and interacted with specialist.
