Agartala, 26th April 2024: In a significant development aimed at enhancing eye care services, Lions Club of Agartala and Ashwini Nethralaya, a super specialty eye hospital, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Friday.
The agreement, signed by Lion Rupshree Pal, Principal Lion Club of Agartala, and Lion Dr. Anurag Majumder, Director Ashwini Netralaya, marks the establishment of ONIS VISION CENTER, dedicated to providing comprehensive eye care services like- cataract, refractive, retina, glaucoma, oculoplasty, and paediatric opthalmology.
The agreement underscores a joint commitment to extending eye examinations and operations to all sections of society, particularly underserved communities. Through this collaboration, individuals in remote areas of the state will have access to high-quality eye care services.
Lions Club of Agartala will spearhead awareness camps in schools, organizations, and other relevant venues to promote ocular health and distribute free spectacles to disadvantaged individuals. Schools interested in partnering with the club for these initiatives are encouraged to reach out to the club authority.
The signing ceremony, attended by prominent figures including Club Director Lion Sajal Kumar Pal, Lion Gopal Debnath, Lion Biswajit Banik, and Lion Bingashti Debnath, marks a pivotal moment in advancing eye care accessibility in the region.
Lions International, renowned for its global efforts in providing free eye care services, continues to make significant strides through initiatives such as this partnership. It is anticipated that the collective efforts of Lions Club of Agartala and Ashwini Nethralaya will yield positive outcomes in addressing the eye care needs of the community.
