Agartala, 25th April 2025: A special mega livestock health camp was organized today in the Batanbari area of Kalsimura Gram Panchayat under Boxnagar RD Block to mark World Animal Health Day. The event led by the Boxnagar Livestock Development Department provided crucial veterinary services to local livestock farmers and villagers.
Veterinary experts conducted vaccinations, health check-ups, and medical treatments for a variety of domestic animals, including cows, goats, poultry and ducks. Livestock owners also received free medicines to aid in animal care.
“This initiative is a huge support for the village’s livestock farmers, especially those who cannot afford regular veterinary services. We are grateful to the Livestock Department for organizing this,” said Upa-Pradhan MD Russell.
A total of 85 cows, 45 goats and around 300 poultry and ducks were treated during the camp. Among the attending veterinarians were Assistant Director of Boxanagar ARD department Dr. Juton Ghosh, Veterinary Surgeon Dr. Solanki Sarkar, Dr. Bijoy Kumar Sarkar and Harekrishna Nama along with several other experienced professionals.
The event saw the participation of Kalsimura Gram Panchayat Pradhan Anita Biswas, Upa-Pradhan MD Russell, former Upa-Pradhan Gias Uddin and other local representatives and social workers.
Former Upa-Pradhan Gias Uddin stressed the need for regular livestock health camps, stating, “If rural livestock farmers receive such services consistently, their socio-economic conditions will improve. We also need to modernize the Livestock Department to ensure better healthcare for animals.”
The camp was met with enthusiasm from local residents, highlighting the importance of such initiatives in improving animal welfare and supporting rural farmers.
