Agartala, 30th March 2024:   Rajasthan, the land once known as Rajputana or “Land of Rajputs,” celebrated its Formation Day on Saturday, marking the historic unification of the princely states of Jodhpur, Jaipur, Bikaner, and Jaisalmer into what is now known as Greater Rajasthan. This day commemorates the significant event that took place on March 30, 1949, when these regions joined to form a larger, more cohesive state.

The word Rajasthan itself translates to “abode of kings,” a fitting title for a region steeped in royal history and cultural diversity. The state, located in the north-western part of India, is renowned for its rich heritage, which includes the ruins of the Indus Civilization, and an array of temples and forts that dot almost every city. Rajasthan is divided into nine regions: Ajmer State, Hadoti, Dhundhar, Gorwar, Shekhawati, Mewar, Marwar, Bhagad, and Mewat, each with its own unique artistic and cultural contributions.

A grand function was held at Solanki Hall of Raj Bhavan to celebrate the occasion. The event was graced by the presence of Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, along with officials from various departments and citizens from across Rajasthan. The Governor extended a warm welcome to those who have come to Tripura for professional and educational pursuits, highlighting that each city in Rajasthan serves as a model of cultural splendor, from the Blue City to the Pink City, captivating the hearts of all who visit.

Governor Nallu also emphasized that Kota, a city in Rajasthan, has earned a reputation as an education hub, contributing significantly to the state’s identity as a center of culture. The Governor’s address at the event reflected a deep appreciation for the state’s cultural richness and the unity that has been fostered over the years.

As Rajasthan continues to celebrate its Formation Day, the spirit of its people and the legacy of its kings remain a testament to the state’s enduring charm and historical significance.
