Agartala, 9th November 2024: The vibrant state-level Orange Festival was celebrated in the Killa area under Bagma assembly constituency on Saturday. The event was attended by Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath, MLA Rampada Jamatia, MLA Ranjit Das and Agriculture Department Secretary Apoorba Roy. Minister Ratan Lal Nath inaugurated the festival by lighting a ceremonial lamp marking the start of the celebrations.
Orange growers from various parts of the state participated in the festival, showcasing their produce and celebrating the agricultural achievements of Tripura.
Addressing the gathering at the inaugural function, Minister Ratan Lal Nath highlighted the financial progress of Tripura. “In the financial year 2023-24, the people of Tripura state have earned a substantial income of 82 thousand 625 crore rupees,” he announced. He emphasized that the income of the people has significantly increased during the current government’s tenure, with the agricultural sector contributing the most.
“The state government is committed to ensuring door-to-door income, fostering ‘one Tripura, best Tripura, and self-reliant Tripura.’ The whole world is now looking towards India for inspiration,” he stated. Minister Nath also mentioned the success of Tripura’s Queen Pineapple, which is now being exported abroad and has received a GI tag. “The Queen Pineapple of Tripura is a symbol of our state’s excellence and potential,” he added.
The event not only celebrated the success of orange growers but also highlighted the broader agricultural achievements of the state. The participation of farmers and the enthusiastic response from the community underscored the importance of agriculture in Tripura’s economic landscape. The festival served as a platform for sharing best practices, innovations, and fostering a sense of community among the agricultural stakeholders.
