Agartala, 15th July 2026: Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today said that the government is working on various plans for the development of religious institutions and tourist places in the state.
He said that Ratha Yatra is not just a religious festival; it is a meeting place for people of all religions and one of the symbols of universal festivals. Ratha Yatra and other festivals are being held with great enthusiasm across the state.
Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha said this while inaugurating the 9-day-long traditional Ratha Yatra festival of Melaghar today.
The festival has been organized through the joint initiative of the Sepahijala District Administration, the Information and Culture Department, and the Melaghar Municipal Council.
At the inauguration ceremony, Dr. Saha said that through the Ratha Yatra festival, not only is there an exchange of ideas between people of different communities, but a cultural bond is also being formed among people.
He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working on various plans for the overall development of the country.
“The state government is also working in that direction for the development of the state. The previous government did not take an effective role in the development of religious institutions or religious tourist places in the state. The present state government is working on various schemes for the development of religious institutions and tourist places in the state with the help of the Central Government,” he said.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including Higher Education Minister Kishor Barman, Sipahijala Zilla Parishad President Supriya Das Dutta, MLA Bindu Debnath, Sepahijala District Magistrate Dr. Siddharth Shiv Jaiswal, District Superintendent of Police Bijoy Debbarma, Sonamura Sub-Divisional Magistrate Raju Deb, social workers Prosenjit Ghosh and Shubhrajit Das, along with other prominent personalities.
