Special health camp held at Gournagar under ‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar’ campaign

Agartala, 24th September 2025 :  A special health camp was organized today at the Irani Primary Health Centre in Gournagar Block, Unakoti District, as part of the ongoing ‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar’ campaign. The initiative aims to improve maternal and child health and promote overall family well-being.

The camp was attended by 318 beneficiaries including 203 women and 115 men. Medical services were provided by a team of specialists: Dr. Punyakrit Debbarma (Medicine), Dr. Chiranjib Deb (Gynecology), Dr. Sharmistha Sarkar (Pediatrics), and Dr. Pritam Das, the in-charge of the Irani Primary Health Centre.

Key services offered during the camp included: antenatal check-ups for 21 pregnant women, immunization of 4 children, blood pressure and diabetes screening for 81 individuals, and tuberculosis screening for 26 individuals.

In addition to medical examinations, attendees received counseling on non-communicable diseases and anemia. A total of 30 PM-JAY and ABHA health cards were issued, and free medicines were distributed to all beneficiaries.

The event was attended by healthcare workers, ASHA volunteers, and local women. At the start of the camp, health officials emphasized the importance of maternal health, stating that a healthy mother is the foundation of a healthy child and family. They urged women to prioritize nutrition, hygiene, and regular health check-ups.

Sessions also covered topics such as proper nutrition during pregnancy, emergency preparedness, child immunization, breastfeeding, and prevention of malnutrition. Personal hygiene and menstrual health were highlighted as essential aspects of women’s well-being.

The ‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar’ campaign will continue until October 2, 2025. Organizers stated that the primary goal is to raise health awareness among women in remote villages through regular camps and outreach efforts.
