Agartala, 24th September 2025 : In a significant crackdown on illegal drugs, Tripura Police of Amtali Police Station apprehended a cannabis dealer and seized several packets of dried marijuana worth an estimated Rs 6 lakh.
According to Amtali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Paritosh Das, based on a tip-off, he, along with Second Officer Mrinal Kanti Pal and other police and TSR personnel, were stationed on the Amtali Bypass Road late Tuesday night. Around [insert approximate time if known], they spotted a blue luxury Maruti car (registration TR 01 BK 0593) speeding from the direction of Bishalgarh of Sepahijala District.
“The police stopped the vehicle and conducted a search in the presence of an executive magistrate, recovering multiple bags of dried cannabis. During the operation, a youth from Malaynagar Rents Colony, identified as Sentu Chandra Das, was arrested in connection with the seizure. An NDPS case has been registered against Sentu Chandra Das at Amtali Police Station. Following legal procedures on Wednesday, we have sent the accused to court for remand”, said the OC.
The OC stated that the estimated market value of the recovered drugs is approximately Rs 6 lakh.
He added that police remand and interrogation of Sentu Chandra Das could reveal the network involved in the cannabis trade.
Police officials emphasized their commitment to cracking down on illegal drug activities in the region.
