Agartala, 14th April 2026: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, state police in coordination with the Border Security Force recovered a substantial quantity of Yaba tablets during a late-night operation near the Indo-Bangladesh border.
The seizure took place along the Srimantapur border road in Sepahijala district during routine patrolling on Tuesday night. According to Tapas Das, Officer-in-Charge of Sonamura Police Station, security personnel noticed suspicious black packets lying abandoned in the area.
Upon examination, the team found approximately 1 kilogram of Yaba tablets packed into 50 small pouches, each containing around 200 tablets. In total, nearly 10,000 tablets were recovered, with an estimated street value of ₹5 lakh.
Officials believe the consignment was likely intended for illegal cross-border distribution. A case has been registered, and an investigation is currently underway to trace those responsible for the smuggling attempt.
