Former Congress minister Sunil Chandra Das passes away at 78; CM, Cabinet members condoled

Agartala, October 30, 2023: Former minister and prominent Congress leader, Sunil Chandra Das, passed away at the age of 78 in his home in Kumarghat due to natural causes associated with old age.

The news of his passing has reverberated through the political landscape, with the state Congress expressing deep sorrow at the loss of the former minister. Condolences have poured in for the sons and daughters of the late Sunil Chandra Das, who was remembered as a dedicated worker of the Pradesh Congress. The party issued a statement lauding his unwavering commitment to the cause and his dedication to serving the interests of the people.

Chief Minister Prof Dr Manik Saha has conveyed his profound sorrow at the demise of former state minister Sunil Chandra Das. In a heartfelt condolence message, the Chief Minister reflected on Sunil Chandra Das’s contributions, stating, “Sunil Chandra Das, who served as a member of the State Assembly representing Fatikrai Assembly Constituency and as a Minister of the State Government, has left a void that is deeply felt.”

The Chief Minister extended his sincerest condolences to the grieving family members of the late Sunil Chandra Das and offered his prayers for the departed soul, wishing Sunil Chandra Das eternal peace. The passing of Sunil Chandra Das marks the loss of a benevolent and dedicated leader, and his memory will be cherished in the hearts of those he served.

In response to the sad news, several prominent political figures paid their respects to the late minister. Minister Sudhangshu Das, MLA Bhagaban Chandra Das, along with former MLA and Congress leader Diba Chandra Hrangkhwal, Satyaban Das, and Tarun Saha, Shyamal Bhattacharjee, promptly visited his residence to offer their condolences.

Not limited to the Congress party, leaders from various political affiliations, including Swapan Kumar Baishnav and Mintu Chandra Das from CPIM, expressed their condolences and shared their sympathies with the bereaved family.
