Agartala, 24th October 2025:    The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has strongly condemned an alleged police assault on students of Ramraibari High School in Jolaibari, South Tripura, during a protest against a teacher’s transfer.

Reportedly, students of the school staged a demonstration opposing the transfer of one of their teachers. In response, a police team led by Baikhora Police Station OC Bishnu Chandra Das and Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Maran Baidya arrived at the scene. It is alleged that ASI Baidya and other officers physically assaulted the protesting students, leaving more than a dozen injured.

Local residents and guardians rushed the injured students to a nearby primary health centre for treatment. A delegation from the ABVP’s state unit later visited the health centre to meet the injured students and gather details about the incident.

Following the visit, the ABVP issued a 24-hour ultimatum demanding disciplinary action against ASI Moron Baidya. The student body warned that failure to act would result in a larger agitation, including a gherao of Baikhora Police Station.

Several Class IX students yesterday alleged that ASI Baidya had beaten them during protest on October 22 last, causing injuries to their heads and other parts of their bodies. One student also claimed that a guardian was physically assaulted, with the officer allegedly grabbing them by the neck.
