Agartala, May 18, 2023: In a bid to solve the drinking water problem in Agartala smart city, Tripura Jal Board and Agartala Municipal Corporation jointly held a meeting at the premises of Corporation’s conference hall here on Thursday.
Mayor Dipak Majumder presided over the meeting while Deputy Mayor Manika Das Datta, Corporation’s Commissioner Shailesh Kumar Yadav and various officials of the Jal Board were present.
After the meeting, the Mayor said that there is drinking water problem in many areas in 51 wards of Agartala city. People are not getting enough water. So this meeting was held to solve the problems of people. Decisions were made earlier to resolve those wards where the unusual water problem remained.
According to the decision, how much success has been achieved, and what measures should be taken in the wards where there are still water problems, the mayor said that the water board engineers and officials were discussed.
He said that 47 deep tube wells will be constructed in Agartala city. Of these, 24 will be developed by DWS, while the remaining 23 will be developed by Agartala Municipal Corporation. However, there are some land allocation problems for this. This problem will be solved quickly.
Besides, the initiative to install 50 more pumps will be taken, Mayor said. He further added that the pipeline was arranged earlier. But the source has not been arranged for how people can get water. Therefore, concerned departments and corporation authorities are working to provide clean drinking water to the city residents by quickly solving this problem, he added.
