Agartala, 18th January 2025:   The CPIM Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Committee organized a procession and meeting today to address several pressing demands including employment for the unemployed. The procession was initially planned to start in front of the Office Tilla party office, transverse Bishalgarh Bazar and return to Office Tilla for a road meeting. However, the Bishalgarh police station staff diverted the procession from in front of the fire service, setting up barricades and standing on the road in a state of alert.

The protest was attended by former minister Bhanulal Saha, CPIM state committee member Manik Dey, MLA Shyamal Chakraborty, former MLA Keshav Debbarma and other state-level CPIM leaders. In his address, state committee member Manik Dey criticized the BJP government, stating, “The BJP government has created anarchy in Tripura over the last six years. Corruption is rampant throughout the state.”

Dey announced that a public conference of the party would be held on January 29, 30, and 31, urging people to join the conference. He further elaborated on the demands of the procession, which included employment for the unemployed, Rs 600 wages for 200 days of work, prevention of price hikes, financial assistance for those affected by floods, and timely provision of various farming inputs, including fertilizers, to farmers.

Meanwhile, the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) and Tribal Youth Federation (TYF) Udaipur Divisional Committee organized a protest today demanding a state-level mass movement to address three critical issues. The youth procession paraded through Udaipur city, passing in front of the CPIM party office at Jamtala, and culminated in a rally.

During the rally, DYFI state committee member Shubha Chakraborty highlighted the escalating problem of unemployment in the state. “The problem of unemployment is getting worse day by day. Youth are tirelessly searching for jobs, but ministers are cheating them from their offices in the Secretariat. Various departments issue recruitment notifications only to cancel them later,” Chakraborty stated. He also expressed concern over Tripura becoming a drug hub and criticized the administration for not taking strict action against this menace.

The protest march, organized by the DYF-TYF divisional committee, focused on three key demands: employment, re-establishing the rule of law, and implementing strict measures against drug abuse. The demonstration attracted significant attention, with participants urging the administration to take swift and effective steps to address these pressing issues.
