Agartala: May 18. As many as five people were arrested by the police while illegally catching fish from Dumbur reservoir today. Police seized electrical equipment used for fishing from them. It is known that on Thursday, Gandachara sub-division fisheries department staff, forest department staff and police conducted a joint operation and arrested five people due to illegal fishing. The police brought them to the police station for questioning.

Fisheries department official Madan Tripura said that they will take legal action against the arrestee. Some unscrupulous traders have been engaged in this illegal fishing for a long time. They are selling the fish in the market using different medicines and electrical equipment. Many people are getting sick after eating it. Due to lack of regular raids, illegal fishing is constantly increasing. Demands are being raised from the common people to conduct public demonstrations in the administration on a regular basis instead of intermittently.
