Agartala, 29th June 2025 : Pradesh Mahila Morcha will organize a mock parliament at the Muktadhara Auditorium in Agartala on June 30, with a special focus on educating the younger generation about the national emergency imposed in India from 1975 to 1977.
Announcing the event at a press conference on Sunday, BJP state office Mahila Morcha state president Mimi Majumdar said the aim of the initiative is to create awareness among youth about the 21-month-long Emergency period, which she termed as one of the darkest phases in Indian democracy. “It has been nearly 50 years since the Emergency was declared, yet its impact still lingers in various forms across the country.
Through this mock parliament, we want to ensure that the youth understand what transpired during that time and how it affected democratic institutions,” Majumdar said. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, Member of Parliament Rajib Bhattacharya, and several other senior BJP leaders are scheduled to attend the programme. The event is expected to witness participation from youth representatives and women leaders from across the state.
