Agartala, 23rd June 2025: In preparation for the sacred Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath, the Panisagar Sub-Divisional administration convened a high-level administrative meeting today at 1 pm at the SDM’s conference hall. The gathering aimed to ensure a coordinated approach to safety and logistics during the festival.
The meeting was presided over by Panisagar SDM Sushanta Debbarma and attended by key officials including Panisagar Nagar Panchayat Chairman Anuradha Das, SDPO Soumya Debbarma, Deputy Collectors Dibakar Jamatia and Biswajit Bhattacharjee and representatives from departments such as Power, Health and Home.
Referring to a recent incident at Kumarghat, SDM Debbarma stressed the importance of preventive measures across all subdivisions. “This year, in light of recent events, we are intensifying administrative coordination to ensure that the Rath Yatra is conducted safely and peacefully,” he said.
Among the newly mandated protocols: Chariots must not exceed 14 feet in height; Use of metal, especially iron, in chariot construction is strictly prohibited; and Chariots constructed with metal components will not be permitted to participate.
Additional directives include prior submission of a detailed route map by organizers, mandatory permissions from the electricity and fire departments, and scheduled Parikrama timings to be approved by the administration.
Dr. Abhinav Dhar from the Sub-Divisional Health department assured that medical teams will patrol the areas during the Parikrama. Senior Manager Chandramoni Nath emphasized that no Rath Yatra will proceed without electrical clearance.
Chairman Anuradha Das concluded the session with a note of encouragement: “Let us work together to ensure that the spirit of Rath Yatra is upheld through discipline and unity. This festival belongs to the people, and their safety remains our top priority.”
The final round of inspections by the administration is scheduled for June 25. Authorities have also advised organizers to avoid creating temporary fairs or gatherings on national highways to ensure smooth vehicle movement.
The administration reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the festival with civil and Apada Mitra volunteers set to assist during the celebrations, continuing a tradition of community service during the auspicious event.
